Group plan- interview

The definition of discipline and mistreat
Our project is aimed to clarify the vague range between family education and domestic violence. There are official definitions about them (attached picture). In addition, we will interview parents how they think about Qiao- qaio’s case. Is it inappropriate? Or fierce? And what will they do if they face this situation. Then, we keep asking them preferring “affectionate education” or “steel discipline”. Now, our group has planned to interview professor An-kuo Tseng. We hope to find another one to be a comparison.
Is it better to teach children without punishment? I don’t think so. Children are too young to tell  fight from wrong. Sometimes, parents use punishment to let kids remember “forbidden” things. It can work and it is necessary in teaching. However, it can be easily abused. If parents don’t use it carefully, they will produce that so-called domestic violence. Few years ago, there is a controversy issue about Tiger Mother. She believes in steel discipline to train kid’s mind growing strong. Although she made it, many people suspect if this will hurt children’s personalities. i think it is the best to strike a balance in both ways. And we also plan to ask interviewees how they do it.

Group project - family education and domestic violence

Family education has long been regarded as important part in children’s life. Parents have different way to teach their kids. However, there is no certain standard to define which kind of family education is right. Some people use strict punishment to discipline child, others believe in education of love. Still others mix both. No matter which way, they all have pros and cons. I think there are many factors influencing the type of parents’ education, such as child’s personality, family tradition, and economic situation and so on. Originally, it is considered to be private in each family. However, times change and relating laws formulated to protect victims under improper education. The whole society pays attention to this aspect of news. Still, there is ambiguous region existing in family education and violence.

In Qiao qiao’s case, her father uses a fierce way to teach her. He not only beat her but destroyed her beloved instrument. And even put pictures which Qiao qiao’s was crying on FB. I think this is quite bad and I suspect her father is a strange man. What is the meaning for this behavior? Did he want to show his power to beat her daughter? This way not only hurt child’s mind (and Qiao qiao is a celebrity) but arouses people to discuss his deed. I believe he is not the only one to do this. And I want to know what other parents think about this event.

Would you plan to study abroad?

NCU, Taiwan a Chinese student's fantastic experience in Taiwan

This semester, a group of China students entered NCU. Qin Yue Ying(秦月盈), one of them is my roommate. She comes from Xi’ An Jiao Tong University, majoring in Economics department in NCU.
Qin Yue Ying is exchange
student from China

Originally, Qin just wanted to accompany her friend who dreamed to study abroad. However, her friends failed to get the choice. As a result, Qin unexpectedly started a colorful life in Taiwan alone.
“Many girls like wearing black stockings!” This is her first impression about Taiwan girls. “In China, girls usually show naked legs” she recalled. Taiwan girls almost dress well and care more about their appearances.

“The library of my home school is full of students every day.” She said. On account of fierce competition in China, they strive to be exceptional among people. Taiwan students usually join club or go out together after class. However, China students concentrate on their schoolwork even future career.
Qin went to Feng Chia
nightmarket
Teacher type is also distinguishing. “My Taiwan teacher treats us like friends, I never had dinner with professor before.”
In addition to joining activities held by NCU. Qin also traveled many places in Taiwan such as Taipei101, Kaohsiung, Kenting, Feng Chia, Danshui, Mount ali. She praises delicious food and beautiful landscape. And she also have an enviable experience “I was so lucky to see many celebrities in person! they were so friendly” She ran into Ariel Lin, DesertsNicholas Teo, Jianning.

In this trip to Taiwan, Qin enjoys a wonderful life. Seeing NCU students’ enthusiasm, she gets a new perspective of collage – try to learn something of everything instead of study only. And she find herself truly a hot-blooded girl.
No matter what differences between Taiwan and China, they have the pros and cons respectively. In addition to experiencing distinguishing life style, students also learn to appreciate culture characteristics. It is the main purpose for youngsters to broaden their minds.

Google Chrome catches users' eyes! [revised]

There are kinds of Internet servers afforded  to users

NCU, T.W. Google chrome formally got champion among servers in globe. While in Taiwan, IE users still take the big part.
A survey aims to learn about NCU students’ favorite internet server and their reasons. The tested are 130 members which male and female take equal part. Three major internet companies- IE, Google chrome, and Firefox afforded to choose. And there is an apparent result that 73.6% users choose Google chrome as their main server, only 15.2% of them use IE and 11.20% use Firefox.
Google Chrome's logo
The finding is that 60% users choose IE because of their long-time habit. However, Google users have diverse answers. The main one is its high speed of connecting Internet. " I cannot bear with IE's poor internet anymore!" one participant complains.  One fifths of users like its plain design with only a Google mark and a searching  column in home page. In addition, there are design settings for users to personalize their own page (iGoogle). This research shows an apparent mainstream of "Google hot" among teenagers. many IE users would like to replace old one with the effective one.

If IE attempts to retain Taiwaneses' hearts in the future, it must offer more special functions to compete with big rival Google. Consumers get more and more novel service in the future. And Our Internet life will be advanced through this positive competition.

                                         IE users' reasons

Google chrome users' reasons

Criticism of my draft

1.      In last paragraph, the two questions are improper to put together, for first one is not finish completely, I add another question after it.
2.      I should add more angle in last paragraph so that it will be more interesting.
“In the future. Whether IE can still occupy Taiwanese' heart? how it compete with Google this powerful rival? users can look forward its improvement and enjoy more convenient functions!”

3.      Grammar usage mistakes.
4.      This kind of article belong to survey. So I should focus on analyzing the phenomenon instead of making story.
5.      Avoid to use “we” as subject.

NCU students' preference of Internet server

Using computer is an inevitable trend all over the world. There are many internet server companies appearing to grab this beneficial business. They provide different services to attract users. And users also choose one (or above two) among them to fit their interests. According to Wikipedia, Chrome formally got champion among servers. While in Taiwan, IE users take the big part (60.09%) and Chrome was the second (23.68%). I am interested in this issue and I make a survey to learn about NCU students’ favorite internet server and their reasons.
I display IE, Google chrome, and Firefox which are well-known in current internet market. Male are on half of all. And there is an apparent result that 73.6% users choose Google chrome as their main server, only 15.2% of them use IE and 11.20% use Firefox.

To learn the factors deeply, there are questions respectively follow each server. We can find 60% IE users opt because they are used to this server, while Google users’ choose diversity answers, the highest is the fast speed of connecting internet(27.27%), the third one is its design format (21.34%) which has only Google’s mark and a searching column on home page. In addition to basic functions in the high position of the screen, Google provides design settings and users can personalize server by mood. This distinctive feature also takes big part in factors (17.79%). The smallest users choose Firefox for its personalizing settings (23.26%), page settings (23.26%), and habitual use (25.58%). They take similar part in proportion. Through this survey I generalize some points: 1.most NCU students prefer using Google chrome because of its fast speed. 2. IE users would like to keep using familiar server. 3. Most students first learn server by their friends and family recommending.

Google chrome- the most popular server all over the world!

According to statistics released from statCounter in April,2012, Chrome win over IE and became the biggest Internet server in Asia(P1). however, IE still occupied the important part in America.(P2). Firefox was ranked the third behind them. To our interest, It was apparent that IE gradually went down in every continent, while Chrome went up time by time. Next month, Chrome formally got champion among servers (from Wikipedia). in Taiwan, IE users take the big part(60.09%) and Chrome was the second(23.68%). there was  a big gap between them. How about this year? If Chrome can win Taiwan's server market as well? we can look forward to result!
